We wrapped up our week so nicely today. In Math we worked really hard on writing number stories with 3 numbers that needed to be added together. While this way a difficult new skill our first graders gave it their best shot. We will be spending more time on this next week. In Language Arts, we learned about 'editing' as part of the writing process. Students first used a checklist to self-edit, looking for capitals, finger spaces, correct spelling, neatness, and punctuation. Afterwards, they were paired with a partner to peer edit each other's work. Next week we will be conferencing with the teacher, writing good copies, typing them, and publishing a polished class book. We also worked on our daily 5 skills to help become better readers and writers. To learn more about the Daily 5 you can visit https://www.thedailycafe.com/daily-5. During our UOI time, we learned a bit more plant vocabulary, planted our seeds in the large grade 1 garden on our balcony, and played some phonics and high frequency words around living things outside. We finished our day by doing some math with Miss Soa, and being rewarded for our good behavior with some golden time on the ipads. This is because we had 0 sad faces this week on our behavior score board.
